DIGITAL WETPLATES

Using the Wet Plate Process, your favourite images can now be captured onto glass or aluminium plate, creating beautiful, one of a kind family heirlooms - something to cherish and admire for countless generations.

Once received, a digital negative of your image is created. Then, using equipment and techniques developed in the 1850’s, the image is hand crafted, producing an original direct-positive image on a sheet of glass (ambrotype) or aluminium plate (tintype). Finally, the plate is coated with a gum sandarac varnish that will preserve and protect it for generations. The resulting images are unique and portray a timeless beauty and character seldom seen in today’s digital world.

We accept high resolution digital files, original paper prints and slides. Standard turnaround is 4 weeks.
